I was surprised when I found mine..
I was a successful career women for 23 years. I made very good money. My Clients needed me and my Company put me in a high position and yet when I retired 3 years ago, I found my passion!!!! Taking care of my DH and family!
It took a couple years for me shake the comments of others who couldn't believe that I could be happy and fulfilled being a "homemaker". Even my own thoughts were making me question my self worth in such a socially unrespected roll.
Here I am 3 years later... Still loving being a Homemaker. I do so much for my family and others. I am paid with hugs, smiles, kisses, wonderful words, friendship, and most important love, love, love.
I identify myself by the things I do in my life. I'm happy with that. I wish more women could have the wonderful opportunity that I have been given by my DH...
WHAT IS YOUR PASSION IN LIFE ?
Isn't it amazing when you find the passion in your life?
I felt like you do a few years ago and it is an amazing feeling. I've had passion about my job and I've had passion about my personal life on various occassions. A few years ago, both were in sync and it was an awesome feeling. :dancepart
Once you've experienced that passion, it is hard when something changes and you lose it. Recently I've been taking a good hard look at my career and personal life to determine what I can do to get it back.
Take care

I am still trying to decide if I have found my passion. I do know that there are many things I am passionate about, though. What a blessing for you, Cindy, to have a DH and family to give your love and care to. It sounds like a dream come true for you and I am so happy for you!

Unfortunately I have not found my passion. I think I may be going thru a mid life type thing. I have a decent job, but am not happy doing what I am doing, yet I don't actively seek other employment. Seems I am okay with just going with the status quo and enjoying the few perks that I get even though I am not fulfilled with what I am doing. I know only *I* can change the situation, but I keep hoping that I am going to see a change and suddenly I will like what I am doing.

I'm going through a mid life thing also. Prince charming turned into a frog. The kids have their own interests. And I'm getting restless, in a good way. It's a time to stop and take stock -- see what needs to change and what needs to be added. I guess you can say I'm beginning to look for my passion. That's actually why I have the username I picked. :p

8 years ago when my oldest child graduated from high school I sat on his bed and bawled. I had soooo many regrets (how I raised him as a divorced/remarried parent...). I vowed at that time to live the rest of my life without regrets. It has been wonderful. Although I have an occasional slip when I might do something I regret, it is less often than ever.
Then about 6 months ago I made a decision to live with PASSION!!!
There are things that are not fun to do, but the outcome is always so incredible, usually, no matter what! Like tomorrow I am going to have a hysterectomy. Nope~can't say I am PASSIONATE about doing it, but I am PASSIONATE about my attitude. I don't want others to feel sorry for me, and I especially do not want to feel helpless. Since I will be completely intoxicated (medicated) I think if I work at it, I can actually keep from feeling helpless with my attitude. I guess I will have to let you know.
PASSION is a state of mind in whatever you do!! :p

As far as career goes, I've found the job I am passionate about.
I'm a CENA. A nurses aide. While there are some really icky, not nice things about this job, I love it. The people I take care of are great, and the organization I work for is good to me too. DH knows the spouse of one of the head nurses and he's told me they rave on and on about me. I've even had another nurse tell me that I was born for this job. The best part about the praise is that I already knew in my heart that this is the job I love to do. I love this job.
I know this isn't a job most consider glamorous or even something they aspire to do the rest of their lives, but I can't see me leaving. I've often thought that if I love this so much I would love being a LPN or RN even better. But I've come to realize that they do more paper work and pill dispensing and wound care than anything else. I get to have more one on one time with the patients and that's what I love best.

Hi there,
I feel that I have found my passion in life, both past and present. My former job as an ophthalmic technician provided one of the most rewarding, satisfying careers that I could possibly imagine--assisting in the restoration of eyesight, and especially assisting senior citizens (who I always treated as if they were my own parents) meant a great deal to me.
Since leaving the field, I have been taking care of my own parents (mom has since passed away), and now focus on taking care of dear, sweet dad...one of the most satisfying things I could ever imagine doing...I would simply be lost without him in my life.
In my spare time, I am working on writing an atypical memoir, and it is a HUGE passion of mine that I hope to complete someday soon. I have absolutely poured my heart and soul into my writing.
This is a great thread--thanks so much for reminding us all what it is in life that makes us feel good/keeps us going...please take care all, and I wish you all the very best.
Sincerely, Trish

Writing is my passion. I absolutely love it. After I finished my novel it became hard to write -- I worked on that manuscript almost daily for 2 years and have never had a story flow so easily, as if it were a biography instead of fiction -- but a few months ago I joined a writer's board and started a new story. It felt so good! I remembered what I love about being a writer, how thrilling it is to create characters and stories out of the ether and come up with something uniquely mine that no one can ever take away from me. I'm not back to my "foaming at the mouth to write" phase that I was when working on my manuscript, but I am writing again and enjoying it so much. It's the greatest thing in the world to me.:yahooo:
