When I was younger, the unoffical start of Summer was Memorial Day and the end was Labor Day. At the time, my school always wrapped up before Memorial Day and we started back after Labor Day. Now it seems that the school year is longer...or maybe it is the fact they seem to have more holidays during the yera than we ever did.

For me, those two US Holidays still signal the start and end of Summer, even though there are official days tied to the soltice and today was an ideal way to end the summer. :sunny:

It was in the mid-to-high 80's and sunny. I've been going to the pool in the early evening but today I went during the day and was suprised to get a lap lane all to myself the entire hour. After I swam my laps, I decided to sit by the pool for awhile and relax instead of coming home right after swimming for an hour like I usually do.

Just wondering for those of you who have these types of summer beginning and ending holidays feel that Summer is now over?

Take care

 JC,
It was the same for me. Memorial Day signalled the start to summer and the promise of warmer days, while Labor Day was the end of summer and the start of the fall chill.

I live in Texas now, so cooler weather is at least a month away, but I still feel that Labor Day is the end of summer. I fired up our smoke pit on Sunday to bbq, even though we can do so here throughout the year. Just one of the traditions I grew up with. The bbq was fired up on Memorial Day, and the last one on Labor Day. Dh didn't want to fuss with it, but I tend to hang on to some traditions. :D
