I am getting ready to do the make up challenge. I recently ordered Avon makeup to replace what I am going to throw away. When ordering, I noticed this small box, telling you if you were "cool or warm get this color". Well, I've never had my colors done, so how do I know what color I am?
I have black hair, and olive colored skin, I'm Native American, if that helps any.
There are no places around here to get your colors done, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

Amie, is it possible to get some samples sent first??? I find trying a few firdt works for me. People have different ideals in makeup, I personally like a foundation that blends perfectly with my skin tone and gives me a natural look, some like a makeup that gives a complete coverage. I find it is trial and error that's what makes samples great, I recently threw out 2 foundations in the challenge because even though I was happy with the colour the long term wearing of them wasn't right for me.

I always thought that it depended on day/night or seasons as to wether cool or warm. I guess I might be out of the loop!! I always go after colors that help to increase my features! I have very small eyes so I know to stay away from the darker colors cause they only make my eyes look smaller. Huh? Cool/Warm. Hopefully someone can help ya better then I did!! :)

Hi Amie,
I've never had my colors done either. But have seen the terms cool/warm on the Cover Girl cosmetics that I use. For CG stuff, cool is for fair skinned women and warm is for darker complexions. CoverGirl's website does have a quick color match quiz you can take.

Kim, thanks for the tip. I went and took the quiz, and according to them, I am warm/neutral. Still not sure what exactly that means, but at least now I know what color to look for when buying makeup.
