Where would you go? Would you go camping? To a resort? Hotel? Bed and Breakfast? What's your favorite mode of getting away?
I enjoy flying to my destination, getting a hotel and visiting in leisure. I'd like to try a resort but they seem very expensive...but ohh-la-la. Photos look great.

I would love to go back to Hawaii! Would fly first class and stay in a first class hotel. I want to visit Kuai (I think that's the name of the first island in the chain) this time.
I'm not much for camping, although I have done so a few times. I want to be pampered and do things at my leisure. With no bugs and a nice mattess to sink into after a leisurely day of leisure. :D

I would love to visit Vermont to see all the fall colors. Take a biking tour from one B&B to the next.

Australia has been my dream location for a couple of decades. Some day I will make it there.
Typically we travel for touristy sights, we have done RVing, driving and staying at extended stay hotels.
If I didn't have to worry about expenses, I would love to go a resort, get pampered, have a nice comfy room with a balcony overlooking the ocean so after sightseeing or doing activities I could just hang out listening to the crashing waves. Oh and don't forget the pool and hot tub :D
That's my ideal getaway, but since I usually plan vacations to sightsee, that won't be happening ;)
Here's my typical travel plans...
Transportation is is definitely by air. At my destination, I'll do public transportation or rental car. I consider a hotel nothing more than a place to sleep and get cleaned up. I'd rather spend my travel money on other things and look for someplace clean and comfy without a lot of amenities.
Where would I go? I've been gearing a lot of my more recent trips to see some of the western National Parks.
I do camp and I think the National Parks would be awesome to camp in, but I prefer creature comforts when travelling for extended distances and times.
Take care

I would take DH to the Daytona 500 and all the prerace activities. We are both big race fans. I've taken off from work the Daytona 500 and prerace week the last two weeks and have plans for next year already! If we can't be there in person, the speed channel is the next best thing.

I have always wanted to visit the nation of Iceland. Everything I have read about it seems very intriguing. But the problem is...summertime would be the only real "logical" time of year to go there, because that's when they have extremely long daylight hours. During the winter, since it's in the Arctic Circle it's dark most of the time and I don't think I would like that.
But June-August is when I like to "stay where I am" because those months are so beautiful in my locale. It doesn't make sense to me to leave home during what is, in my opinion, the most beautiful time of the year here.

Cruise to Alaska!
Me too!! My DH has promised me one for longer than I can remember now. He just "hasn't found the time " yet
I may just book one for myself and my DD :D
Cruise to Alaska!
That's on my list too. I've been to Alaska in March and thought it was awesome.
The other place I've been to in Winter and would love to go back in the summer is Banff and Lake Louise.
Take care

I would absolutely jump at the chance to get back to New Zealand again! I visited for 6 weeks, over Christmas (summertime there--it was quite interesting!) in 1993. My ex-boyfriend was from NZ, and he took me on a tour of both islands...from the black sand beaches, the breath-taking mountains, the amazing fields full of lupins, to the most awesome glaciers, we saw it all. We stayed in hotels, at small resorts, and camped at lots of remote locations.
While I used to be terrified of flying, it was this man who could talk me into anything, and on a trip to Honduras, he put my fears at ease, and I have never been afraid of flying since...I would love the opportunity--just once--to fly first-class and see what that it all about! I also love taking long drives, as this man and I used to do when we lived in Texas--the Hill Country was incredible :) And, I am a train lover and always have been since I was a kid--many a times I have taken Amtrack from NC all the way north to RI, and that too is so very scenic and serene--I just love to travel in general!
Sincerely, Trish
PS: I used to live on Kauai--it is nothing short of amazing there. I would love to get back there for a vist too!

Cruise to Alaska!
I was gonna say fancy week in NYC, but I think I could handle this, too.
I did one resort vacation, and I was bored to tears -- was able to control the food intake, but I did drink far too much!

I've done the Vermont in the Fall...it is BREATH-TAKING! There is a book about drives in the state. I'll have to find the name of it and post it.
We actually flew into Buffalo, NY, went up to Niagara Falls, droves across NY to Vermont, New Hampshire to Maine...where we ate fresh lobster. Then we headed down to Boston, Rhode Island, Connecticut, NYC, NJ, Pennsylvania thru the Poconos and went back into Central NY and stayed at a B & B in Cooperstown, NY before heading to the MLB Hall of Fame.
We spent the last night of the trip back in Buffalo, but went to Niagara Falls and dined over-looking the falls.
We stayed at Motel 6's except in Cooperstown and they were VERY clean and quiet and we saw so much in 10 days.
I'd love to do it again.
Anywhere tropical. I love the sun, sand and pina coladas :)

Hawaii - any day of the week. We've been fortunate to travel to many places, including Hawaii, and hands-down, it is my FAVORITE place to travel to.

I would love to go to the fanciest resort in Maldives. Have all the perks that are availabe. I'd love the Alaska cruise too.
I also have not visited the Northestern part of the US. Staying in B&B's while taking my time driving there in the fall would be relaxing and enjoyable.

I'd go back to Anguilla in a heartbeat, to the same villa we stayed in before. It's the most incredible place I've ever seen. :vacation:

At this point I'd take a vacation going anywhere! What I would really love to do would be fly to England, rent a car and do the "Grand Tour" - France, Germany, Italy and every place in between. Yeah, only in my dreams!

Well, I really would love to go to Ireland. My daughter says that when she gets back from Iraq next year, she will take me to Ireland. She also wants to go there, as it is our ancestral home. Everyone I know who's been there says it is so very very green.

Ireland, hands down~! We have family there and its part of our heritage. Not to mention how graceful and beautiful it is.
If I were to choose somewhere else not based on all of that, then I would choose to go on a cruise--Hawaii, Alaska, Carribbean....I'm not picky! LOL!

We took a trip to the Big Island last year. BEAUTIFUL! Would like to visit Kuai next. I have heard it is the most beautiful of all the Hawaiian Islands.

I figured would bring back some old posts for some variety....
My hubby and I have always said we would take a cruise to Alaska given the chance, maybe for our 10th or 20th anniversary....
He would of course make arrangements to get off the ship for a day or two for some Bed and Breakfast visits that would involve some moose hunting and salmon fishing I am sure......

My dream trip in the USA is a road trip on the Pacific Coast Highway up to Washington state. Out of the country, it would be to go to Ireland.
