Earlier this year, January and February the area that I live in was dumped on where we ended up with several feet of snow. Some areas were considered a state of emergency.

This past week, December, we have been hit again. Currently I have nearly 2 feet of snow in the past few days and have more coming today.

I know the news has said many areas have been hit hard this past week.

Has anyone else been hit hard by this years winter storm?

We got clobbered north of Chicago. Eight-ish inches of snow after last night, with more on the way. The college where I teach was shut down Friday, and since it's finals week and the administration will do just about anything to have the finals schedule come off on time, I know it had to be a bad storm. I went to work out yesterday and it took my husband and me about fifteen minutes to get all the snow off my car.

I live in New England, and we're being hit by back to back storms. We had one that started early Friday afternoon and ended late Saturday morning but the snow showers that lasted all day added another inch to two inches. The second storm has started and it's snowing pretty heavily now.

I was out earlier and took some photos, which I uploaded to my photo gallery.

I was in Grapeview Washington last week. That much snow in your area is nuts! We left Washington last Monday. It was the scariest driving I have ever been in... and I live in snow country Nevada. The ice and moisture in your snow makes the roads extremely slick. In my area the snow is dry and not near as dangerous.

Here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I have a couple feet in my back yard. It's protected and the wind and blowing snow don't effect it all that much. Our front yard/driveway where out plow guy pushes the snow we have two huge snow banks on either side of the yard they are both 6 feet + and the depth of the yard.

So far this has been the most snow we've gotten this early in the winter in about 10 years and some of the coldest temps on record.

I'm looking forward to a little warmer weather b/c my truck is stuck in 4L b/c it was -10 when I needed it and it wouldn't shift out of 4L back to 2H. The dealership said to park it in a warm garage, but my truck doesn't fit in the garage and I don't really have one close by to park it in. I'm just a mile away from work and they said it's okay to drive it slow back and forth until it warms up.

No snow here in Texas, although we did have a sprinkling a few weeks ago. Quite unusual down here. I've been watching the weather as I have family in Wisconsin and friends on the East Coast. I hope y'all stay warm and dry. I remember well Wisconsin winters. Best to stay in and bundled up when the snow is flying. I know it's not always possible, please be careful if you have to venture out.

Well after a record of 6 feet of snow fall in December I am glad January is here.

This week has brought rain and 45* weather, and FLOODS. We have some roads that are closed due to flooding, but the snow is disappearing.

Possible skiff of snow for tomorrow morning.

As I'm sitting here writing it's -18 degrees outside  , which is why I'm going to be inside today. :D

You were lucky to be able to stay home. I had to venture to work. It struggled to get above zero and had a -21 wind chill :cold:

It's usually a long walk from where I park because of the time I get there, but this morning I was lucky to find a close spot.

And they are calling for more snow this weekend. At least we are also having a heat wave since it is supposed to get up to 27.

Take care

We had our heat wave last week 45* with flooding.

My power has been out for 24 hours now and not expected on until tomorrow evening. So this evening is spent at a hotel.

We have had freezing fog this past week with a low cloud covering causing the ice to build up on the trees and powerlines. The tree branches are not handling the ice and are breaking off, over powerlines and a few homes.

We will go home tomorrow and hope for the best. Currently our weather has been holding between 30-35*.
