Anyone working on paying down the debt on one credit card and working on the Pay it Off Challenge?

What strategies are you using? How is it going?

Are you finding ways to put extra funds towards the credit card with the lowest balance? Or are you working on your highest balanced card?

Tell us how its going as you work towards this challenge!

Hi Kathy!

We refinanced our house several years ago and paid off the cards (among other things). :D
There are times now I wish I had another one, but won't let myself get in that nasty circle again!! Now, If I have a few extra bucks, I get a prepaid visa....kinda like charging without all that interest!

I spent three years paying off old credit cards and I am proud to say that I haven't had credit card debt in over five years. I have a savings account for emergencies, and another for items that I want to purchase.

I paid off one this week. I've been putting extra funds toward that card and another one. It's surprising how quickly that impacts the balance. The card should be paid off in the next couple of months.

For me, starting with the little ones made sense. I wanted success early! Plus, the larger card has a lower interest rate!

I just started the pay it off challenge.

My DH and I have one joint credit card that is paid off monthly. I have a second card that I rarely use because of the high interest rate. When I do use it I do pay it off when the bill comes in.

Since I do not have credit card to pay off or cut up. I am going to start paying extra on my car payment. My DH has been asking me to do this for awhile, I figure this challenge will help me start paying off the car a little quicker. At this time I only have two years left to pay on it.

I just paid off my last credit card. Wowzers. It feels good! :D

Good luck to everyone else doing the challenge. I couldn't have done it so fast if not for the IRS. ;)

I have one credit card, however it is a PRE-PAID account. There for I spend only what I put on the card. It limits my spending and great for internet usage when needed. I learned my lesson along time ago about credit cards!

Good Luck to all doing the challenge!

Hey,
I only have one credit card but its pretty much maxed out.....I pay a lot on it evey month but I also put stuff on it. I need a card for work because I travel and need one for the internet (I live in the boondocks and its the only way to get some things) Could someone explain the prepaid credit card. Where do you get them and do they work just like "real" plastic?
