I know, I know....

But now that I've gotten a sunburn, is it better to use something like Solarcaine or an aloe gel?

There's also something called After Burn, but I thought that was actually for burns, not sunburn.

I have Solarcaine, and it's helping... but somehow I feel like there's something else I could use because the Solarcaine smells like medicine. :(

I now vow to stay out of the sun for a while. It seems like I get that "one burn" every summer and then I figure it out. Strange that it took me until mid-July to get my bad burn this year!

It's been a long time since I've gotten sunburned but I always used Aloe Vera.

Hope it wasn't a bad burn.

Take care

Aloe makes me blister and break out. I used Aloe one time on someone's recommendation, worst thing I ever did. Guess I am the only person on this planet allergic to aloe. :shrug: I use plain old noxema. So soothing and I don't peel that much afterwards either.

FYI. My neice got a really, really bad sunburn. So bad my sis called the nurse hot-line. She was told:

* Take tylenol
* Drink lots of water
* Take frequent cool baths (Not shower)
* Mix a little noxema with water in a squirt bottle shake it up really good and mist it on the sunburned areas.

I have used vinegar and water to take the heat out of a sunburn. I mix half water and half vinegar in a bowl. Make sure you use tepid water. Not hot or cold :eek: otherwise it is a real shock to your skin.
You can use a towel or even papertowels will work. Soak up the mix and squeeze out the excess, leaving the towel very damp. Place the towel on the sunburn until you feel the heat from the sunburn on the towel. Do this as many times as you need to take the heat and pain out of your sunburn.
It works really well for me. :queen:

we have an aloe plant, and use fresh aloe on sunburns (bottled if we are vacationing)
