I need some advice. Please be honest.
I am over 40 yrs. old, and I want to grow my hair out nice & long. In your opinion, should women over 40 keep their hair short, or should they be able to grow out thier hair. I'm sort of torn, as my daughter wants me to grow it out. (she likes to play with it).
Another question, I've been dying my hair up until now, and the longer my hair gets, I have the salt & pepper look. I don't want to keep dying my hair, I want to go 'au naturel', would this look better on short or long hair, or should I even care and do what I want anyway? I'm so confused!

I am over 40 also, my hair is real curly, I also would like to try and get it to grow longer right now it is a little below the shoulders. My fiance wants it long and he loves it ( I was even thinking of getting hair extentions to see how it feels to have it long and see how I look) :)
Its been hard for me to keep dying my hair also, after 3 weeks I need to do it again. I think some women look really good and can carry off the gray hair. I'm not one of them, for some reason it doesn't go with my curly hair. Maybe if I had it shorter. I think it looks good on straight hair. You know some beauty saloons have those computers that would put a style on you picture to see how you would look with gray hair and or long. I told my fiance that when I get old I will cut it real short like Nancy Regan I like her style, but what is old anyway? :)
Sorry I don't think I was much help....Good Luck
I don't think the length of your hair should be tied to your age.
Do you have a hairdresser you like and trust? My hairdresser discusses any changes I have thought about doing. Some I end up doing, some I drop because he can explain why that style won't look good on me.
As for salt and pepper hair...I have friends with both long hair and short hair that is salt and pepper and either way looks fine.
When I've seen people change their hair (either dying their hair or stopping...or even cutting long hair short) initially I may not like it but realize that i have those feelings only because it is different. If they keep the new style in a week or so, it usually looks good...it just wasn't what I was used to.
Try growing your hair out and going salt and pepper. See how you like it. You can always cut it and start dying it again. Just give yourself time to adjust to it before thinking you don't like it.
Take care

I personally have started to shorten my hair and I am 44. I just feel that women who are older than I, who have long hair tend to look like they are trying way to hard to hang onto their youth. It is usually very hard and or expensive to keep colored. So then you are left with long stringy flat looking hair. My hair is dark brown and as it is graying it looks flat.
I personally LOVE Chris Jenner hair... She is marreid to Bruce Jenner and the mother of the Kardashian girls....

Women should do what makes them feel comfortable. There aren't rules about how a woman should look or act at a certain age. Just do what makes you happy!

I'm 37 and I have always had long hair. I think your hairstyle should be up to what you want and how you feel with a particular style, not tied to your age. I, for one, am 5'10" and I have a round face...I look HORRIBLE with short hair! I will be 97 and still have hair halfway down my back. I also need bangs, I look awful without them. The way I know all this is because I have tried different styles and colors.
Go with what you want, if it doesn't work for you, change it :D

I think age should not have anything to do with rather a person wears their hair long or short. If you like it that is all that matters and all that should matter and that goes for dying your hair to. Wear it proudly any way you see fit.

I think long hair and naturually graying is nice on women over 40, 50, even 60.. as long as it is well kept.

I've known people who have had some of the most gorgeous long hair I have ever seen. I would have to agree it all is in how you take care of it.
