I can't believe it is really almost here. Next Thursday will be my last day at the old building. At least we get Friday off. :D Than Monday the 21st I have to show up at the new place. I will be losing many friends as there are alot of people I have worked with for 5 years that are moving to yet a different building.
I am grateful that I still have a job, but am dreading the move and traffic anways! :p And my favorite boss has accepted an assignment far far away, ie: across the ocean. Sigh.
Change is so hard. I have seen lots in the 5 years I have been with this company, but think this one is going to be the hardest. I probably said the same thing about all the other changes though. ;)
Change is always hard and it seems office moves always happen once we get all settled in to our routine and commute.
It sounds like your move is part of a reorganization and I think those are always harder because there are more unknowns than just the new accomodations and new commute.
When I would move because of a change in projects, I looked at it as a way to do meet new people and learn something new. Of course any move that increased my commute was dreaded and I usually spent a few weeks adjusting my hours, trying different routes and routines to see what worked best for me.
I'm sure it will work out. Let us know how the move goes.
Take care

Thanks JC. Two days left to pack and get ready. It's been really strange walking around the office, seeing the cubicles taken apart and watching everyone clearing out. Sigh.
I am almost done. We got our crates today and I of course jumped right in. :D I hate waiting until the last minute so I just left the stuff on my desk that I need to use. Of course as soon as I packed up things I was looking for my sharpie marker, which I had packed. :signlol:
Kind of irritating that they put a sign on the refridgerators that they will be cleaned out Thursday at noon. :stomp: We do still have to work all day Thursday. What if I don't eat until 12:30pm? What about my soda for the ride home? Seems like a petty gripe I know, but nerves are thin. ;)
I knew you were going to say you packed something you needed. ;) I think that's the worst part of moving. Pack it too soon...you need it, don't pack it, you have too much to pack at the last minute.
They did the refidgerator thing a week before our move (never rescheduled when our move was delayed)...and some people were ended up staying on that floor for at least 3 more weeks because the other floor they were moving to wasn't ready yet.
I hope the move goes well and you get settled into your new digs quickly.
Take care

Well it is done. My crates are ready to be moved and I am home and in my jammies. :D Monday I head to the new place. It was sad saying goodbye to those that are moving to the other building, people that I have worked with since there almost 6 years ago. I'm sure Monday will be another crazy day. I don't even have my badge yet to get onto my floor in the new building. Guess I will scout out the closest Starbucks and go in later than I usually do. :signlol:

Move went well. All my stuff was there by my cube ready to be unpacked. The only goof was that they messed up my laptop connector by inserting something into the wrong slot. No biggie as I noticed it right away and corrected it before I plugged it in.
The lady in charge of the move was quite rude to those of us who "dared" to show up on time as they weren't ready for us. Geesh, punishing us for wanting to get things going and get back to business. Oh well, won't have to deal with her much anymore.
It was a fairly quiet day. Noticed a few odd things, like our desks vibrate when the a/c kicks on. :signlol: Not sure what is up with that.
Traffic wasn't terribly bad today, but I did sneak out a little early as I had a bad headache and there really wasn't alot going on. Plus alot of people are off this time of year so probably won't know until mid January what traffic will REALLY be like.
I am glad it's over and I can now get settled in.
Kim,
Glad the move went smoothly. This is a hard week to judge how traffic will be, but hopefully it isn't too bad after the first of the year.
Take care
