Does anyone know if undereye milia(tiny white spots) is caused by having high cholestorol? Is there any way of getting rid of it. I've been told that it's like tiny pockets of fat beneath the skin.

Hi Mori,
I think the best way to know what your cholesterol level is would be to see your doctor and have your levels tested. I don't think there is a skin feature that can determine your levels. If you're concerned that you have high cholesterol, you really need to call your doctor.

I have been told that my cholestorol is a bit high, but that it can be controlled by diet. However I've heard that those undereye fat deposit can be caused by cholestorol & I've seen many women who have them, including my Mom. I just wanted to know if anyone has any info about how to get rid of them. I am planning to ask a dermatologist but in the meantime any info. would be appreciated.

I had a few around my lower lip and I've read they can be caused by using products like chapstick or vaseline, etc. Do you use baby oil to remove eye makeup or anything like that? Just curious if that might be the cause.

I don't think it's from using baby oil to remove my eye make-up. I keep hearing it's caused by having high cholestorol. It's like little fat pocket deposits under the eye & a lot of older women have them.

I'd be interested in reading this information about cholestorol. I've looked in Google and seemed to have missed that. Do you have an info link?

Mori,
Fat deposits are Xanthoma, are usually yellow and are more common on hands, feet, elbows and knees and may be caused by increased blood lipids.

Milia is whiteheads and caused by using oily products.

You can do a google search on these two terms.

Here's the link Kathy. They aren't called milia after all but they are caused by high cholestorol.

Well, this link says most people with xanthelasmas do have normal cholesteral levels. Not all of these spots are from high cholesteral although if your cholesteral level is elevated, it might be the cause.

As far as how to get rid of them, looks like surgical removal, preferably by a plastic surgeon. Or, you can use a good concealer under your makeup foundation.

Okie...so this is why it made no sense. Millia isn't the same thing you were thinking of. :bliss:
