Are you a Dr. Phil fan? I love his horse-sense way of addressing issues. I like his southern phrases:
"Do you have a dog in this fight?"
"I'm not going to ride that pony!"
Most of the time I agree with him. Sometimes I don't. I do think its weird that he features his family members so much yet I like Robin.
There is a part of me that senses pompousness from him...not during a segment about others but when it turns into a "Dr Phil and his family moment".
But by and large, I like his show.
Now Oprah is another story. I'm no longer much of an Oprah fan. :(

I love Doctor Phil, he cuts to the chase without being mean or nasty
It's his southern turn of phrase that helps, makes me laugh out loud and get's straight to the point. I have worked with a bunch of Texans for the last 6 years and I think it's bred into them.
I have a colleague in Dallas who says a Texan can tell you off, or tell you where to "get off" in such a sweet way that you will do so willing and with a smile on your face before you know what happened:D .

I like Dr. Phil, but the show his program at 7:30 am here, which means I can only see it when I do the afternoon shift at work.
Love his no-holds-barred attitude to stupidity!

I like Dr. Phil, too...but for a different reason:
I don't watch daytime TV because none of the shows interest me except an occasional cooking show on the Food Network. But, when I was recovering from major surgery a few years ago, I had to spend a lot of time lying around in bed, so I did quite a bit of channel-surfing to try to pass the time and get my mind off my pain. :( I discovered Dr. Phil's show airing here on weekdays mid-afternoon. I thought some of the topics and his messed-up guests were kind of interesting. But here's what I liked most about him:
His voice made me grow tired, and I fell asleep from listening to him speak. This was a great "healing aide" to me under the circumstances because I wanted to spend most of my time sleeping. There's something about his cadence, Texas drawl, accent, pitch...I don't know what exactly...that acts as a calming sedative for me.

I love Dr. Phil and would like his website to if I could figure it out :dizzy2:
I love his, "how's that workin for ya?", and tend to ask myself that often now. I love the way he loves his family, especially his wife. I think he has learned from his own life experiences and that is an inspiration to me.
Yep! I  Dr. Phil

I like Dr. Phil too, he call's 'em as he sees 'em and I find that very appealing.
As for Oprah.....it's always about her....and I'm sick of listening to it.
I love Dr. Phil & Oprah! Why aren't you a fan of Oprah anymore Kathy ?

I don't care for Dr Phil. I used to like him, but I think he is now coming across as being very pompous. He comes across to me as being a know it all. I don't watch his show, don't buy his books, and change the channel if I see a commercial for one of his shows. Sorry, but he just really gets on my nerves.

I do like Dr. Phil. I don't watch him as much lately though as it does become a bit repititious. He uses a lot of common sense. I especially like it when I see an update on someone and see that they did what they needed to do to make themself better.
I also like that he and Robin are open and loving and don't mind showing it. In this day when it seems so many people throw away marriages, it is good to see someone who models a long term loving marriage.
I am with you Kathy about Oprah, it seems to be all about her or something. I had not watched her for a number of years and have seem some episodes this year. Not much has changed.

I'm with you Kim. I don't like Dr. Phil either. He is very pompous and just gets on my nerves. I'm not an Oprah fan anymore, either.

Hard as I try to find reasons not to, I still like Phil and Oprah, both. Sure, Oprah has a lot about her, but I believe deep down she's done a world of good for a lot of the world, especially the children in South Africa. As far as the good doctor goes, sometimes he does bug me, but more times than not he's right on the money with so many things. Skimming through his latest book at the store the other day, I walked away with some valuable insight on men (read: DH) that I found pretty useful. I'll take any and all help I can get!

Anyone watching Dr Phils new season? I enjoyed seeing TD Jakes last Monday. I'm not sure I like the dr Phil house though. Too much violence IMO. But its sorta like driving by a car wreck with the rubber necking. Is that why they put on such families?

I follow on his website - what we get here is from a coupla years ago.
Today we had an episode about some silly woman who got engaged 7 times, and a couple who got married within a few hours of their engagement, which was a few days after they met.
