Job Search Hints

Yesterday my position was eliminated in a work force reduction.

Anyone have any suggestions on doing a job search, figuring out if you should do a career change, or using social networking sites?

jcme- I'm so sorry to hear about your job. :grouphug: I went onto monster.com to find a new job a few years ago. I know there are some websites that can help you but I can't remember them at the time. what type of work did you do? Let us know how the hunt is going. :hangin:

I would say I'm a Business or Data Analsyst. I've been working as an IT Service Provider so I work on projects for various clients and also have actually filled a business or IT role as part of the client's team. I've also held roles as requirements analyst, programmer/analyst, technical lead and deployment lead.

At the advice of others, I was supposed to spend today relaxing and letting it sink in. I didn't do that very well and was bouncing between way to many things because I have no idea what I'm doing. I did finally give up and started making some phone calls and sending emails to friends to let them know what was going on...or giving support to other people who were let go.

Tomorrow I plan on reading my paperwork, making a job search bible to keep track of what I'm doing and getting my calendar set up again (I was using my work Outlook exclusively and I have no idea where or what I'm supposed to be doing).
