Hi Ladies:
I am about to start a Spin Class tomorrow morning. Does anyone have any advice for me? I attempted to do one last summer but after 2 classes I was soooooooo sore that I didn't go back. Anyone have some advice for me that will help me to stay with it. I'm guessing to just take it slow and not try to keep up. My legs were so sore I could hardly stand up next morning... but I love my exercise bike and I think if I can just get through the first few times I will like it. There are much older people than I in the class so I know it isn't my age. I am 55 and exercise regularly on the treadmill and Eliptical machine. I really want to get the spin class down too........ :D
Any Spin Sisters out there with advice?

I would take it easy the first class just to see what the routines are and what muscles are worked. Next class you can increase the intensity overall and backoff when they start working anywhere you felt sore the prior class.

By doing this you can pace yourself so you aren't too sore the next day or too.

Let us know how the class goes.

Take care

Thanks JC:
That's a good idea. I decided to wait until tomorrow to start the class because I have to clean a room for my mother in law to come stay in next week. I have alot of things to go through and I didn't want to take the chance I would be to sore to take care of it. I should have it done today so I will be good to go tomorrow. I did go to the gym yesterday but did my usual. I watched the class in progress and there are alot of people who don't do the whole routine they just peddle when it is to hard. That may be me for awhile. I like your advice I will keep it in mind. Thanks!

It was spoken from experience. The first exercise ball class I went to, I was hobbling around for days because I was so sore. The class didn't seem strenous, but I was so sore the next day.

I'll have to remember my own advice later when I go to the pool the first time the season (hopefully today). I usually get out of the pool with legs of jelly the first couple times.

Take care

JC.. wow I wouldn't think the pool would give you jelly legs but
I never tried it either. Funny how you don't know what muscle you are going to wake up when you do things things. I got the room ready for my mother in law so I am going to hit that spin class tomorrow and take it slow.... :) If I am sore I can sit the next day I won't have anything pressing to do... : )
Good luck with the pool. I am sure I will have jelly leg on Thursday but they say no pain no gain..... :(
I bought a ball but haven't got a clue what to do with
it yet... :D That will be my next thing...

Well... I pooped out on the spin class.. I don't think I am there yet.. So I am trying to decided on two of the other classes that may not be so hard on me. I really want to do that spin class but I also want to be able to move the next day. I figure I don't have to kill myself to burn calories... Thanks for the advice but I am a bit chicken to take on that class.... Ha ha!

The first time I swim laps each season, I end up doing way more than I should and feel like my legs are jelly when I try to climb out up the ladder. It usually goes away in a few minutes, then the sore muscles show up.

Sorry you pooped out in the spin class. My gym offers spin classes but I'm not brave enough to try it.

I guess I am not brave enough myself. It look like it would be fun... but I am not twenty anymore.... I think if I kick up my own routine by another 1/2 hr a day and push myself some to get passed my confort zone It will get me passed this plateau I have reached. Thanks for your advice! I did appreciate it.. :)

Hey!.,.. I got brave and did that spin class!.... :)
It was sooo much fun... I did limit myself and didn't do
as much as all the others but I did go the distance. Next time I will do a little more... Your as old as you feel I guess and I got tired of watching them in that class and I just decided to go in. There are people in their 70's in that class so there is no reason why I can't get through it... I am going back tomorrow. I am not sure how sore I will be but I am still going back!
Sometimes you just have to push yourself passed your comfort zone. My legs do feel a little like jelly but it feels great to not poop out............
