I'm definitely a cat person & my husband is a dog person, so we have both! I've had cats all my life & feel like something is missing when I don't have one. At first my husband disliked cats because he was...afraid of them! :catmilk: I found it so funny that someone who was able to handle big dogs was scared of friendly felines, but with time my cat managed to win my husbands heart & the dog's as well!

Mori,
Yes!!!!! I am a most definate cat person! I just love cats. What kind of kitty do you have? I have a wonderful Siamese kitty that I was given by my DMIL from a humane society foster person. My DH wasn't really sure about having a cat either, but I've always had cats. But, she won him over quite easily and has become a part of the family. Siamese kitties are kinda vocal and let you know what they want , but they are also a very loyal breed. Right now, her favorite spot to sleep (even though she has numerous beds, etc) is my guest bathroom sink!!!!!! Cats are just so fun to watch and have minds of their own! Although I am an animal person in general. Have a big chow/german shepard too. Take care!

My cat is a "black & white male short hair" & can you guess what his name is? I have a canary named "Tweety" as well! He adopted me instead of the other way around when I was still single & living at home. He just barged into my house one day, walked past our stunned dog & started eating my other cats food. Then he made himself comfortable on my sofa & started "purring". My mother put him out assuming he belonged to someone else & trying to avoid another pet in the house at the same time, but he kept coming back & won our hearts! He kept scratching to get in one rainy day & I just can't leave a cat out in the rain !:rain:

I guess I became a cat lover later in life, my parents never let us have cats and really loved our dogs. It was when my DD became sick at 15yrs old and asked DH for one that we got our cat "Jasper" who would have thought a little ginger girl who was the runt of the litter could have worked her magic on us all, even DH who never had a cat and had no desire to ever get one.
Funny thing is DH has a soft spot for all animals but hates getting attached.
She is an inside cat and really does rule the house, no one is able to ignore her demanding "meows" even at 5 in the morning LOL
I would love another cat but she is very possessive.

I am an animal person but I love cats. We have two half persians at the moment who are just daft. Ren and Stimpy! Ren the black one is more aloof and you know her presence when its there and Stimpy is more tabby than persian and loves to drink out of the bathroom tap. Our first cat was Nermal a Cream persian and he was our baby, we used to take him everywhere and he loved the car. There is something about cats, although I love my dog too.

We never had pets as a kid, and as an adult, my first cat chose me. Showed up on my doorstep with a chicken bone stuck in roof of her mouth, after that she wouldn't leave. She has since passed away, and DH and I have 3. My oldest is 19 years old, and then 2 boys around 8 years old.
I would love to have dogs, but where I live we just don't have a yard for them, and of course we both want big dogs, my husband doesnt' find a Chihuahua a suitable choice LOL. Someday.
Our animals constantly have us laughing and are constantly seeking attention. The give us great joy.:)

I would say I am a cat lover and dh is more of a dog lover!! But what dh does not know is that when he thinks no one is looking I see him holding the cats and snuggling with them ..lol

As of now I have 5 indoor and 2 outdoors cats. All the cats started out indoor but the 2 just always snuck out everytime ANY one came in or out. So we just le them stay out. It was hard on the kids because they thought the cats would never come back but they stay around the house and we still interact with them everyday.

Our oldest cat is 10 and the youngest a few months. I do not know what I would do with out them. I should say that the cats rule the house and dh's 2 boxer/german shepards arent allowed to chase the cats...lol

I have 3 of those critters. One was found in a dumpster when she was about 8 weeks old. One had his paw in the sleeping chamer ( they were going to put him to sleep that night if no one adopted him) and the third, I was looking for a lap cat. She was all cuddles and kisses, until 1 weeks after we brought her home. She no longer likes me, but cuddles and butts heads with my dh. If i get too close to the two of them together, I get a real nasty look from her. I wouldn't trade my cats for anything in the world. They help me release stress, they let me cry in the fur and not yell at me for getting them wet. The don't ask alot of questions, they are all just three big lumps of lovable fur

I have 6 cats and a dog. They all get along together just fine.
2 of the cats are indoors, one goes in and out ( mostly out) and the last 3 stay outside.

I love them all.

I love my cat no matter how mean he is!! Just something about them that is neat. He does have a bad habit of wanting to be fed every 10 min. and never wants old food in his bowl. He loves early morning (4 am) feeding and then long naps for the rest of the morning.

Oooh! Me me me! I am a big cat lover! I always have at least one. I love dogs, too, but having grown up and lived in a big city all my life, cats were just more practical. I am also not a "schedule-oriented" person so I think I am not ready for a dog just yet... the cats are a little more flexible about schedules!

My cat is my baby. He is absolutley spoiled and gets whatever he wants (as long as it is not bad for him). I am so proud of him! He was found living in the streets when he was captured by a local feral group. After observing him, they decided that he just might make it in a home so they put him up for adoption - in spite his little biting habit - which only happens when he is scared - and he doesn't do it hard!

I went to the store to buy fish food and came out with my baby (and the fish food). He is solid grey, medium fur, with only three fangs, big old feet, and a huge heart! It took a little while to adjust to all the new scary noises but now he feels safe and loves us as much as we love him! He is huge - he weighs twenty pounds and is not overweight! People are scared because he is so big (inclulding his vet, as first)! But, he is really a big frady cat and is more scared of them than they are of him!

Now, he is just a plain old Mama's Boy! :)

I have three cats in the house! I don't know what I would do with out them. The oldest one is 12 and I worry about her getting older...it will just kill me when something happens to her. They seem to know when I am not feeling well and they will just curl up on the bed with me. They are great!

I absolutely love cats. A few years ago, when my 16-year-old kitty, Frenchette, grew pathetically sick and I had no option other than to bring her to the vet's office for them to perform "the dastardly deed," I suddenly turned into a frozen statue in the parking lot of the vet's office and could neither speak nor move. My husband ended up having to bring her into the clinic to be euthanized, while I sat in the car like a zombie. It was very lame on my part but I couldn't help it.

After my little Frenchie died, I wanted to get another cat but my husband reminded me that I do not have the wherewithall to "see them through until the end." :( In addition, he has spent time and energy attracting many species of birds onto our property via bird feeders, and I agree it's kind of low to tell the birds to "come here" only to be stalked and killed by a cat.

That being said, I miss having a cat snuggle all night with me in bed, ensconced in the space behind my bended knees. I love the sound of a "loud motor" as they sniff around by my head to see if I am really asleep. Maybe someday I will have a cat as part of my life again.

I know I try to avoid eye contact with them of a morning or they will all be on me and want me to go downstairs to feed them. Our oldest one likes to sleep between mine and my husband's head. Once she knows you are awake, you don't even have to touch her, she starts to purr. They are amazing.

Don't you all just love a cat's attitude and personality? My kitty seems to be settiling down for the winter. I took her outside during out last snow storm in my arms & she was NOT amused with the snow hitting her in the top of the head. Promptly went straight to the bed and snuggled for quite some time after that! For heaven's sake, I didn't even let her down, she was on a screened in porch! Think I made her mad, lol! Cute! But spoiled rotten! Guess that's what they are for!

My cat likes to sleep in my room at night & scratches at the door until I let him in. He curls up next to me & places one arm on my neck...so adorable! When he wants to leave the room, he touches my face gently with his paw to wake me up. If I don't wake up, he jumps on me or my husband & that surely gets our attention! I also find it amusing that he's so vocal . Whenever I talk to him he always answers back with his "meows"! :catmilk:

I have three cats. One indoor and two outdoor. All are just domestic short hairs. I have always been a cat lover, I cant remember a time when I didnt have a cat, or two! My husbands claims he doesnt like our indoor cat, but I know he does, he takes time to pet her, ect ...... and she ADORES him!!

What I really want though, is a Ragamuffin cat. Anyone here heard of that breed of cat, or have one?

Me too!! I am an lover of all animals. I even allowed my son to bring home a pond frog (Ms. Frogetta) and guess who took care of her

At current, I have 2 adopted SPCA cats--one pure black and called Diva due to being extremely vocal. The other is a Tortie color with a 3/4 tail whacked off by previous owner. Her name is Beni (because of her Bengal Tiger colors) but we call her Freaky (also because of her color--Halloween pumpkins!!) because she is weird!! Both are DSH and very different personalities and neither likes the other.

I also have 3 dogs, Husky Hobbs (13), Mr. Magoo Maltese (2) and a recently adopted Black Lab/spaniel mix Sancho adopted from a deploying soldier. I never liked football dogs until Mr. Magoo was given to me and funny enough he has become my "baby". DH is stationed in Iraq and hasn't met Sancho yet, but every time DH leaves, I get a new pet!! :p

I've loved cats since I was very little. We always had a cat and dog growing up. Now in our family, we're not sure we're dog people, but we love cats! We have 2 outdoor ones and 1 indoor one. Our black and white shorthair cat is named Mouse (she came with the name when we got her at 6mths old and she does have a squeaky meow). My baby is Boots. She is 11 years old this year and is mostly deaf due to a reaction to an antibiotic from a couple of years ago. Everyone says she looks like a lion when they meet her. She have very long hair and is a calico. She still talks to me all the time and can hear when she wants to, it seems. And out third is the newest. Her name is Cindel and she is a shorthair orange and white kitty. All three cats have such distinct personalities. My DH says I sure know how to pick them! Each one is very quirky. :) But that just makes me love them even more!!! :D :D

Growing up, we almost had a feline hanging around the place, despite the fact that dad absolutely hated them (at least, he claimed he did: we found out, as we grew up, that he actually side with the kitties  ). So I always thought I was a cat person.

Then, when I was 19, we got our first dog. He was a German Shephard/wolf mix and a natural guardian. He was such a great companion that I grew to love dogs as much as I love cats.

When my son was 4 and I was expecting my daughter, we adopted a beautiful white cat who was then 2 yo. He's been our constant companion for the past 10 years.... :hmm:... when he feels like not hiding in a wardrobe, of course

My DD always wanted a dog and, finally, last August, we gave in (well... DH and I had been thinking about it for about 2 years and we realized we ready last summer) and adopted a Golden Retriever puppy. I've since realized how much I missed having a dog and am happy as can be.

I still love my cat and think I'm a lot like him: I also like to hide in my room, away from all the raucus, at time :)

It is so hard for me to understand how anyone could be so cruel to cats. They are so loving!! I have always loved animals of any kind, but my cats are really special to me. They are always there for me.

We have 3 cats.

Begherra is our 'wise old man.' He sees all and knows all.

Sweet Pea is our 'queen.' She lives on the refrigerator. The only reason she gets down is to use the box and to sit on my lap.

Nermal is ... well her name says it all. She thinks she's the world's cutest kitten and the world revolves around her.

I love all three and can't imagine not having them in my life.

I have two "sons", Marm and Pip. They were both adopted from the humane society. My DH was not a cat person when we met but has since become one. He likes to play rough with them like you might with a dog. Marm always wants to be where I am. He sleeps in the bed with us at night. Pip won't come up on the bed if we are there but loves to sleep there during the day. I lived for over 20 years without a kitty to love. Now I have two and I love them very much. :sillycat:

when we first got married, DH wanted a cat. he grew up with cats i grew up with small dogs. our first bay was Samantha  a black and white short hair.she was great, i always say she taught my oldest how to crawl. walk a foot away, sit down, look back, and wait for the kid to get to you, just as she reaches you,....move another foot away!!!
when the DD's were old enough to ask, we got Misty :dizzy2: from a neighbor. they loved her, grey and white, but kinda "short a few cards from a full deck" if you know what i mean!
then we got our first dog, a Belgian Sherpard. his name was Tobias Murdock, but Toby:love: for short. a sweet large dog who loves to chase the ball...throw the ball, common throw the ball!!!!
the my dad asked to use the carrier one day, and brings it back with Tobi :winner: his orange haired cat who loved me dearly. dad always said he was my cat!!! he only let ME snuggle with him, but dad had 2 other cats at the time! i think he just needed some attention!
so we had Toby the dog
and Tobi the cat
poeple thought we named them that way! lol funny huh!

alas all our pets have passed on, and DH says we don't get another pet till we retire! which will be quit some time off! it's ok, i dream of having time to spend raising and loving animals again.......someday!
thanks for all the love in the world for animals

We have fostered over twenty cats in the last three years. My DD worked every Saturday for a rescue organization affiliated with Petfinders.org since she was in second grade. Now school and other activities are interfering but I know she misses having kittens around. We do have two that came to us through that agency; one is a tuxedo cat and she's our fifth tuxedo cat (equal-opportunity shedders, they are!)

I love my dog first and foremost he is an absolute darling but I have 2 cats that I adore as well. They were both rescued from a cat shelter. 1 is a Birman and the other is a ginger moggie. A few years back our tabby cat died at the age of 21, it was such a sad day, she had been part of our lives ever since me and my husband married. That's the worse thing about having pets, it's so traumatic when they go.

My husband says he is allergic to cats. When i moved in with him i gave my cat to a trusted friend. Our neighbor moved and abandoned her cat. We took care of her outside. When she got pregnant and about to give birth, my husband reluctantly let me put her in our spare bedroom. You should have seen him, he was more excited than i was when she was birthing them. He would go every day after work in the spare bedroom and hold them and play with them. He said he had no idea cats were so lovable. His allergies have not acted up at all. When we gave them away, he was sad. Weeks later, we ended up taken in 2 kittens someone was giving away.
