Hello Ladies,

It's been a while since I've been here. I came back last week and there weren't many new posts. I thought b/c it was the weekend. Now, a week later, still not much action here.

So where is everyone? What have you been up to?

I've been busy with life.

I'm still working midnights, just happy to have a full-time job. Am way beyond complaining about the hours and what it's doing to the rest of my life. B/c I'm working midnights, things are harder to get done during normal business hours. I will never take a day job for granted again.

DH's doctor told him he's on the verge of kidney failure. So we've been working hard on stopping it from getting worse. Mainly he's being very careful with his diabetes. Unfortunately, that means I actually have to cook healthy meals and he has to eat at regular time. Not always the easiest. I've given him the assignment of finding recipes that he'd like me to try b/c it's hard finding things he wants to try to eat. It's gotten a little easier, he gives me a dozen recipes and I see what ingredients we have and go from there. We have found new favorites, and I'm always thankful for that.

My Friendship Afghan Project has come to the stage where I'm waiting for everyone to send out the rest of the squares. We had a good turn out so far, we had 17 in the project and there's only 5 left to send out squares. The final day to mail them out is the 15th, so that's good. This project turned out being way bigger and taking up much more time that I ever thought. I had been thinking about starting another one in January, but I don't know ...

Because of the first Friendship Afghan Project I was in, I made a new best friend, KBK. We write each other snail mail, she lives in the country where internet access is hard to get. I completely understand that, if I were still living at home, it would be the same way. They only got internet last year. Anyway, we write each other and I've found the older sister and best friend I never had.

KBK is a writer and she's gotten me re-interested in writing my story again. I've been having a hard time finding time to work on it. It takes a while for me to get into the mid set and write.

So what is every one up to? What's new?

Can't wait to hear from you!

MJ

Hi MJ!

It's nice to see someone else on the boards. It has been so quite lately.

I've been busy with the startup of another school year. I'm a computer tech in one of our elementary schools. We got brand new computers this year and it has been a nightmare getting them ready to use. All of our elementary schools got the new computers and we thought all of the programs were ready to go, until everyone started using them! Then the problems came out of the woodwork! It's been a real nightmare.

DH and I went away for a long weekend because I really needed to get away. It was good to just get out of here for a couple of day, visit with good friends of ours, and have a nice change of scenery.

DH and I also just started going to a personal trainer. I have lost 46 pounds and am at a standstill right now. I was getting so frustrated so we decided to try this to see if I can get the weight loss going again. It's challenging, but I found that I really like that someone is pushing me to do these things that I never thought I could do.

I've been busy working and dealing with my health issues. Also had some vacations, one was going back home so we could scatter Grandma's ashes and visit with my two aunts, meet up my cousin that I haven't seen in about 30 years and catch up with an old grade school chum. We also took a two week Mediterranean cruise in mid September.

When we got back from the cruise I managed to catch something and was very ill for a week. Luckily I could work from home and my boss was very understanding.

One more trip to NYC in November for our anniversary and than we are done with travelling for the year. Now to get the videos and pics downloaded so I can share with my friends and family.

Now that we are home for a bit, we are working on projects in the backyard. The bench we are building is almost complete. Putting the finishing touches on it now. Dh is already thinking about the next project. :signlol:

Although I check in often, I haven't been posting much because life has been so chaotic this year.

Earlier this year I lost my job to a work force reduction, then had to deal with health issues my mom started having. Between trying to deal with looking for a new job and dealing with long distance elder care I've had very little time for myself.

I found a new job and things settled down with my mom. Now I'm playing catch up with things around the house and yard and finally getting back into some routines that allow me to have some time for myself instead of spending 100% of my time on elder care and job searching.

I do know it's always slow in the summer beause people tend to do a lot more outside stuff and have vacations. Hopefully these boards will be busier as the weather cools.

Take care

Hi There:
I haven't had alot of time lately either. I have checked in a few times but when I get home from work I am really pooped so I don't get to my computer. Since I been here my Son and daughter-in -law gave me a grand daughter... :) She is beautiful. They live in MInnesota so they are very for away from California. I plan to go visit after winter so pictures will have to do for now. I will catch up on the kisses later. I have been sticking with my exercise routine and going to do my Spin class before work. I have lost another 10 pounds which was alot of work but I feel better. I still have about 15 pounds to go before I get where I want. Slowly but surely. I am doing my last semester of a 3 year course through Faith Bible Institute. My DH and I will graduate in December. It has been a blessing but I will be glad to get those nights back to myself. That's about it for me... Busy, Busy... but we are happy and healthy

It has been a long while since I've been here too!
Over the past 3 years I have started making pottery and I have an online Etsy shop.
I also had a life changing injury. I went to a chiroprator and he messed up my neck pretty bad. I have 2 cervical herniated discs that make everyday life a challenge. I'm hanging in there though.
Good to be back on GGG :)

LuvMaui,

Glad to see you back. It has defintely been slow around here. I know in summer the boards are quieter then things pick up as the weather starts getting cooler. Hope that will be the case this year too.

Sorry to hear about your injury and hope to hear more from you.

Take care

LuvMaui:

Good to see you back! I hope you feel better soon. I also have 2 herniated disks in my neck courtesy of the anethestist (sp?) during my hyst. I totally understand that pain. I actually thought I was having a heart attack. I ended up seeing a neurosurgeon and he recommended at home traction, therapeutic massage, and believe it or not, chiropractic. BUT, the chiropractor must do only what the neurosurgeon told him to do and nothing else on my neck. I am now pain-free. So hang in there and do what the doctors tell you to do for your particular situation.
