View Full Version : Keurig Coffemakers
Anyone have one? Do you like it? Do you feel it is worth the extra money? Have you used it for iced drinks?
I know the machines are pricey and so are the coffee pods, but I'm thinking for one person who sporatically drinks coffee and won't make it at home because brewing a whole pot is a hassle for one person, this may be the way to go.
I know you can also buy tea and coco pods. Plus the box mentioned some of the pods are made especially for iced drinks. The idea of making a quick glass of ice tea is very appealing. Plus it would be nice to offer people that come to visit the option of having a cup of coffee.
What are your thoughts?

I don't have since I don't like coffee, but we have one at school in the faculty room and the staff loves it. In the past, we had a coffee pot and some people liked regular, some liked decaf. Some liked it stronger than others. They bought the Keurig and anyone can use it, they just have to purchase their own pods. The response has been amazing. Everyone that uses it loves it. It's fresh for everyone, no stale, overbrewed coffee.

My daughter has had hers for a couple of years and loves it. Keurig now makes a model for Mr. Coffee and it costs around $79.99, which is quite a bit less than other models.
Thanks for the info.
I didn't know other companies made single serve coffee makers that used the K-Cups, I just thought it was Keurig branded pots. I do know I want to stick with using the K-Cups since they seem to be the most popular, are the easiest to find and have the most variety.

The Mr. Coffee model is made by Keurig. If I were to get one I'd probably get the Mr. Coffee one because of the lower price. (The Keurig name is on the front of the unit along with the Mr. Coffee name.)

We have one. My husband likes it, but for me the coffee is not strong enough. I will use it in a pinch, but not for my usual coffee.
A friend of ours bought my mil a one cup coffee maker with a bunch of coffee beans and a grinder. Now to me, that is a better idea. Fresh coffee is much better than the pods.
No doubt freshly ground is better but if I have to do grind and measure for one or two cups of coffee then I'm going to stop at the coffee shop or local breakfast joint for takeout. :D
When I have made coffee in a traditional pot it comes out horrible unless I can use premeasured grounds and water. I just don't make it enough to know the best ratio of beans to water.

Thanks for your input.
Although I loved the Mr. Coffee version's price, I ended up buying the Keurig machine at Costco for a few reasons.
It has a water reservoir on the side and the machine determines how much water to use. I could see myself spilling water all over the place because I wouldn't want to move the machine to the front of the counter.
It has multiple brew sizes and handles travel mugs. I am a little concerned about the strength of the coffee using the travel mug size setting, but I usually drink out of a travel mug so one needs to fit even if it doesn't get filled all the way up. Also I want to be able to make iced tea with it so it needs to be able to handle a taller glass.
It is definitely more machine than I need based on how much coffee I drink, however the price at Costco made it the right choice.
Take care
