Hi Girls! :hellowave

I had a hysterectomy last January and was able to keep my ovaries. Ever since then, I've put on about 25 lbs. and I'm not sure why!? I watch what I eat and exercise just like I did before, but it won't come off. :headscrat

I have a doctors appointment in March and I'm thinking I'll ask him then, but in the mean time I'm so frustrated with this!!! GRRRR!!!! :bigcry:

Does anybody have any ideas what could be going on with me???

Hi Snospud! I had a hysterectomy in December 2004 but I've had the opposite problem from you. I had my ovaries out because they were a mess. I feel so much better but I've lost 12 pounds since the surgery. I've went from 132 down to 121 at present. My doctor says not to worry but I can't understand it. I don't really eat any differently or changed my exercise so I don't understand what's going on. I guess I shouldn't worry but it's just so weird.

I had mine about 3 1/2 years ago and have gained about 10 pounds. I have my ovaries but am on Testosterone gel to counteract too much estrogen. I think that has something to do with it. be sure to have your levels checked when you go to the doctor and follow up. It is very frustrating when you try to do the right things and still gain weight. I've also noticed a difference in strength and stamina. I'm 50 but have tried to be physically fit for years, but the last couple of years have certainly taken their toll. Try to maintain your physical activity and weight training especially. Good luck

Kate's right. Visit hystersisters and in particular the Hysteritaville forums. There's a wealth of information there and you'll be able to interact with women who, like you, have had a hysterectomy.

Follow this link (http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/hslisting.php?s=&forumid=177) to a list of articles geared towards healthier eating and healthier living.

Yeah.....we are trying reeeeeeally hard to develop GGG to be an all women's website...keeping hysterectomy discussions on HysterSisters. Please post questions about your hysterectomy there...and allow GGG to be for all women?

((( SnoSpud ))) Thanks for understanding. ;)
