Don't Let Worry Worry You

If you tend to let worry worry you, take heart. There are ways to beat worry.

First, know that worry is a thought process, a mind exercise. It is defined this way: To feel uneasy or concerned about something; be troubled.

Most people find that worry comes up several times a day but under normal circumstances should leave your thoughts rather quickly.

But sometimes you may find yourself bothered by an issue over and over again.

Be encouraged that your mind can be engaged in a way that you can learn to control the worry and turn it into productive plans for your life.

If you find yourself stalled over a particular issue that you continue to worry about, exercise the worry by expanding it. Ask yourself: "Can I personally change this situation?"

If you have no control over the situation, replace your anxious thoughts. Start a list of all the positive things in your life or about the situation and meditate on those.

If you do have control over the situation, do something about it. Do not allow worry to paralize you. Ask others for help to form a plan of action for you to meet the challenge head-on. Do not allow the worry to steal your precious time or energy any longer.

And know that the Bible has a great plan for worry:

From Philippians 4: 7-8: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally... whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
