Whenever the calendar changes to a new year I become nostalgic and introspective along with the rest of the world. I consider my goals. I consider my plans. My intentions are good but I sometimes get the cart before the horse.

I get all wrapped up in the world's stuff. Meal planning, clothes washing, birthdays coming up, doctor's appointments. Rushing here and there, I find that the distraction of the day to day stuff fills my day but it doesn't fill my soul.

Whether my day is filled in a workplace, a home, a school setting or laying on the couch, the stuff of this world isn't what we are to be seeking.

Lord, help me to set aside the things that distract me. Help me to seek You first and as your Word says, the rest of the stuff will fall in place.
