The alarm clock rings. The day has begun. You roll out of bed, hit the shower, dab on the makeup, select the right clothes and you are out the door in anticipation for your day.
Whether you are heading to a job, a class, a meeting or a workout, you are heading towards a goal. You have something to accomplish. A mission to fulfill.
You have to show up to accomplish whatever is ahead of you.
So often we set goals with great intentions. We are feeling the pitch in our clothes from overeating. We are feeling the blah feelings from too many evenings in front of the tube. We are feeling the stress from too many days without a rest or healthy distraction.
And so, our lives cry out for a few goals to set ourselves back on track. We set a goal to lose those extra pounds, to get off the couch, to meet with friends for dinner and a movie. We head to the nearest bookstore for a good book.
Perhaps your intentions are good but for whatever reason a few days go by and there is no discernable changes in your life with regard to those goals you so eagerly set.
What's the problem?
You didn't show up.
You thought about it. Talked about it. Dreamed about it. But when the alarm clock went off, you hit the snooze button and fell back under the covers.
Imagine if you were hired for a new job. Your new boss gave you the tour, showed you your desk, shook your hand and told you the job starts on Monday at 8 a.m. Would you hit the snooze button on Monday morning? I doubt it. You would show up!
Amazingly half the work of accomplishment is simply showing up. Although its important to set the alarm clock, its important to prepare for the task, wear the right clothes, make the necessary preparation and then head that direction.
Make a goal and then....Show up!
Girls, get going!
