Default Grocery store prices

I was amazed today when I went shopping and saw how many prices had went up in such a short period of time. What really ticked me off was that the sticker said "new everyday low price" when actually the price was 50 cents higher than it had been most of the year!!!

Do the stores really think we don't pay attention and that we don't know that price is actually an increase?

Geeze, it's bad enough the prices go up, but why they have to put up signs that would insult their regular customers.

When I went to the major chain grocery store last week to do bottle returns (much more convienient than where I usually shop), I thought their regular prices were outrageous. Sale prices were for the most part better than what I pay where I shop. However most of the sale stuff was out of stock :-(

Take care

I think that grocery shopping has gotten downright depressing! Prices are such that I sometimes don't even LOOK. I find myself sounding very old, saying, "I remember when milk was XX per gallon" (and no, I'm not about to date myself by saying what I remember! ).

I understand inflation and all, but somehow it just doesn't seem to make any sense anymore. Some items go up alot, others a little, and others don't seem to change. Can't figure it out at all.

I am getting really irritated by these signs in the grocery store. They are putting them on more and more items. They are huge and say LOW PRICE. But that LOW PRICE is much higher than the previous price. Do they really think we consumers are that stupid and don't know that is not a LOW PRICE and that they just raised the price?

Kim:

I've notice the same thing here. I don't dare just take cash to the grocery store anymore. I'm afraid I won't have enough with me to pay the bill.

It is just my husband and I and I always walk out paying at least $100.00 a week for groceries. Very seldom is it less than that. I can't figure out if it is me or not. I'm I a bad shopper? or is it just everyone is paying more? I tell ya. I have never been much of a coupon person.... But I find myelf saving coupons and using them more and more all the time. Ya gotta save somehow. Coupons may take some figuring out but it is money saved if you take the time to do it. I just found out Walmart takes online coupons... : ) Not eveyone will take those. So I made a trip to Walmart so I could use some of my online coupons I found. I only bought what I needed and didn't pick up anything I didn't need. That is the key to going to Walmart with those. I always find things I don't really need... I just want them....

I used to shop every couple weeks. I'd buy what I needed for the next week or so and maybe pick up a few extras of things if something was on sale.

Now I've managed to stock a freezer and pantry pretty well and shop the sales now instead of shopping for the week.

Overall I'm spending less but it is impossible to budget. Some months I spend a lot, others I just end up buying perishibles.

Take care
